Main purpose

The teacher will:

  • Fulfill the professional responsibilities of a teacher, as set out in the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions document
  • Meet the expectations set out in the Teachers’ Standards
  • Take specific responsibility and accountability for the day-to-day planning and delivery of the Science curriculum in your classroom.
  • To work as part of the Science department team
  • Be a form tutor and part of a year team

 

Duties and responsibilities

Teaching

  • Plan and teach well-structured lessons to assigned classes, following the school’s plans, curriculum and schemes of work
  • Assess, monitor, record and report on the learning needs, progress and achievements of assigned pupils, making accurate and productive use of assessment
  • Adapt teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of pupils
  • Set high expectations that inspire, motivate and challenge pupils
  • Promote good progress and outcomes by pupils
  • Demonstrate good subject and curriculum knowledge
  • Use data to identify individuals or groups of pupils that need targeted support and develop and implement strategies to raise achievement
  • Measure and assess the impact of interventions and update stakeholders on progress
  • Promote strategies which support differentiation, inclusion and positive behaviour

 

Whole-school organisation, strategy and development

  • Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of the school’s policies, practices and procedures, so as to support the school’s values and vision
  • Make a positive contribution to the wider life and ethos of the school
  • Work with others on curriculum and pupil development to secure co-ordinated outcomes
  • Provide cover, in the unforeseen circumstance that another teacher is unable to teach

 

Health, safety and discipline

  • Promote the safety and wellbeing of pupils
  • Maintain good order and discipline among pupils, managing behaviour effectively to ensure a good and safe learning environment

Professional development

  • Take part in the school’s appraisal procedures
  • Take part in further training and development in order to improve own teaching
  • Where appropriate, take part in the appraisal and professional development of others
  • Communicate effectively with pupils, parents and carers

Working with colleagues and other relevant professionals

  • Collaborate and work with colleagues and other relevant professionals within and beyond the school
  • Develop effective professional relationships with colleagues

 Personal and professional conduct

  • Uphold public trust in the profession and maintain high standards of ethics and behaviour, within and outside school
  • Have proper and professional regard for the ethos, policies and practices of the school, and maintain high standards of attendance and punctuality
  • Understand and act within the statutory frameworks setting out their professional duties and responsibilities

The teacher will be required to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people, and follow school policies and the staff code of conduct.

Qualifications
and training

   Qualified teacher status,

   Successful teaching experience at K2 3 and KS4 but ECTs are also encouraged to apply

   Evidence of professional development relevant to this role

   We would also welcome applications from teachers looking for a part time role or those with experience who do not hold QTS

   Good knowledge of legislation and guidance on curriculum requirements

   Outstanding classroom practice, constantly showing a positive and resilient approach to pupils and staff

   Excellent communication and organisational skills

    Knowledge of effective teaching and learning strategies

   Knowledge of guidance and requirements around safeguarding children

   Good IT skills, including previous use of SIMS and Google classroom

Cover Supervisor

Working Pattern: Term Time/Full Time

Hours: 30 hours per week.

DBS Check: Enhanced

Qualification: Ideally educated to degree level

We are looking day to day supply cover supervisors to help with sickness and leave. As a cover supervisor your role would be to cover the classroom, help pupils make progress and achieve academic excellence in an environment of love and care.

We a looking for a dedicated, hard working and professional cover supervisor that will add effective support to students with a range of abilities. The ideal candidate will be conscientious, self-motivated, well organised and adaptable as you will be working in different classrooms through the secondary school. As a cover supervisor, you will receive a schedule at the start of the day and be expected to demonstrate flexibility, resilience and spontaneity.

Your aim is to provide pupils with a broad, balanced and diverse curriculum of the highest quality where representation is key.

Excellent transport links with two tube stations and two overground stations within walking distance.


The ideal cover supervisor candidate will:

 

  • Be comfortable being the only adult in the classroom

 

  • Have good behaviour management skills
  • Be passionate about working with young people and have a desire to see each student achieve the best of their potential
  • Work well in different classrooms and handling different subjects
  • Have an enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to apply for a new one

Previous experience of working within a school or as a cover supervisor is not mandatory to be considered for this role. If you have worked with children or young adults in any aspect including working as a sports coach, youth worker, support worker, please feel free to apply.
