Discovering The National Archives
On Tuesday 27th February, Year 8 students attended a workshop on resistance and rebellion to the transatlantic slave trade at The National Archives.
Highly engaged in the workshop materials, students were able to use their secure historical knowledge to interpret the documents, place them in their historical context and make inferences from them.

At the end of the workshop students were able to see some surprise documents, including a 3D copy of the rat that led to The National Archives building being built and documents related to the suffragettes in honour of Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day on Friday 8th March.

But that’s not all, students were also lucky enough to see a highly valuable letter, known as the Tide Letter, from Queen Elizabeth to her sister Mary I moments before she was about to be taken prisoner in the Tower of London.
