Intent
To actively engage our pupils to develop their full potential through a range of purposeful, yet enjoyable activities within a challenging and productive environment. We want pupils to learn and improve where participation and achievement is measured, monitored and celebrated.
Key Stage 3
At Key Stage 3, all pupils have one double lesson (1 and ½ hours) of PE per week.
During lessons pupils experience a dynamic and varied curriculum, including activities and learning opportunities from all national curriculum strands.
Year 7: Fundamental skills, netball, gymnastics, OAA/teambuilding, Athletics, Rounders
Year 8: Netball, HRF, OAA/Team Building, Gymnastics, Athletics, Rounders.
Year 9: Netball, Indoor Athletics, HRF, Athletics, Invasion Games, Rounders
Key Stage 4
In KS4 Physical Education focuses on participation, engagement and provides pupils with a range of opportunities to be involved in physical activity, to encourage lifelong participation in sport and activities.
Year 10: Amazing tournament of motivation (ATOM- Invasion Games), Fitness classes, Badminton, Mindfulness and physical well-being, Athletics, Rounders.
Year 11: Rollerblading, Fitness Classes, Mindfulness and physical well-being, Badminton.
PE KS4 Curriculum Map 2023-24
GCSE PE
We offer Edexcel GSCE PE Course in addition to core Physical Education.
Pupils start this course in year 10 and complete it in year 11. The course is divided into 4 components: Fitness and Body Systems (Examination), Health and Performance (Examination), Practical performance (Practically Assessed in three Sports) and Personal Exercise Programme (Controlled Assessment).
Sports Studies (Level 1/2 certificate)
We offer the Cambridge national certificate in sports studies (level 1/2) certificate in addition to core physical education.
Pupils start this course in Yr. 10 and complete it in Yr. 11. This course is divided into four units: Contemporary Issues in PE (Exam Unit), Developing Sport Skills (Practical and Controlled assessments), Sports leadership (Prcatical and controlled assessment) and Sport and the Media (Controlled Assessment).
Sports Leader Award
We also offer the Sports Leaders’ Award (SLA) course.
This is ideal for students wishing to improve their communication and leadership skills. SLA students undergo a series of lessons, culminating in their final assessment which involves leading students from a local primary school for an afternoon of sports activities.
Extra curricular activities
Extra curricular clubs run every day after school from 3:30pm - 4:30pm.
We offer a wide range of activities i.e. Cheerleading, Netball, Football, Athletics,Trampolining, Basketball, Dance, Tennis, Rounder’s, Fitness, Badminton and work with local clubs. We also enter many borough competitions and run House Netball, Football and Rounders competitions every year.
Sports Day 2019
Sports Day 2019 was a very wet affair, with the rain never letting up throughout the day. Despite this, everybody had a wonderful time and we all look forward to sports day 2020! Some photos form the day can be viewed in the below gallery.
